A message from the President

Dear Friends

Looking back over the winter season, I can certainly say we have had some good times together! We have played Bunco, Burraco and Mah Jong; we have read and discussed interesting books; we have decorated cakes, swapped recipes and lunched together; we have stretched with Alice and explored with Barry; we have talked (in many languages) – and we have eaten a lot of cake and drunk a lot of coffee!

Now spring is coming and our activities will continue and multiply with the better weather. It’s time to venture out and visit some of the fascinating places in and around Brussels. You will find some good ideas and suggestions in this edition of the Newsletter. Don’t put it off – sign up for something new today!

In March we will have our first Cook With Me of the year. This Workshop is always popular but we need more volunteer cooks for the coming months. Why don’t you share your culinary skills with us and let us know how to prepare something typical from your country? One of the aims of our Club is to share and explain our different cultures and have fun while doing so. Don’t be shy – I promise you will have an interested and enthusiastic audience.

A walk in the woods to discover the first signs of the spring is priceless. A walk in good company to share this experience is even better. Everyone is welcome to join me and my Golden Retriever, Barry, on our regular walks. It’s very convivial and the pace is gentle enough to allow conversation!

Finally, for many of us, the end of the winter heralds a Big Spring Clean when we try to tidy up our houses. I’m sure we can find some unwanted dresses, shoes, bags, linen and kitchenware at the back of our cupboards. De Stobbe, the charity which we support, will gladly receive all the things we don’t need any more but which will make a big difference to other people. So put your ‘decluttering’ hat on and be ready for the day of the collection.

What more can I say? Be part of the fun and enjoy, enjoy, enjoy!!!

Love to you all,

Carla
