Happy New Year NIC Friends!
And for those of you who traveled for the holidays, welcome
home to Brussels! Despite the challenges of the ongoing
pandemic, we hope you all managed to have a lovely and
relaxing festive season.
For me, coming ‘home’ to Brussels after a short holiday
felt a bit strange. It is such a big and beautiful city with a
great arts scene, museums, green space, diverse and
delicious food but there is still so much of it that is
unfamiliar to me, including the language. But what makes
a place ‘home’? For some, ‘home is where my family is’ or
‘home is where my cat is’ or ‘home is where my art is’.
Home is a little different for all of us, however, I believe that
home is generally a place where you feel comfortable and
included. And the NIC is here to help you feel more
comfortable and confident in embracing Brussels as your
home!
There is so much opportunity for fun to be had in 2022!
And yes, the pandemic will continue to impact us but we
are inspired to carry on with creativity and optimism. We
also welcome your ideas for events and activities
throughout the year.
“Nothing will make you happy until you choose to be
happy.” You already chose to join the NIC (bravo!) and we
encourage you to choose to participate in the coffee
mornings, group activities so together we can enjoy our
beautiful home here in Brussels.
Cheers to sharing many happy experiences together in
2022!
With love,
Liz
