Dear friends,

Welcome to the new NIC season 2020-2021. I truly hope that you have had a relaxing summer with your loved ones.

Today marks 12 months since I joined NIC. The world around us has changed quite a bit in the last few months. I deeply wish that in the coming months we witness a better situation.

I imagine you have used your time, efforts, brainpower and energy on something that has contributed to make this situation better.

Probably, all of the NIC’s friends are used to rediscovering ourselves in some way, or find ourselves doing new challenging things that are out of the ordinary. Sometimes there are so many confusing and frustrating aspects about moving, Tiring paperwork, and settling into the new area. We all have the skills of resilience and flexibility through our previous assignments. Every single change in our lives has made us think…What do we really think is important in our lives? What do we want to spend our time on? How do we want to fill our lives?

These are crucial questions for the quality of our lives. That is why I strongly encourage all of you to join the next Coffee Morning on September 15th. We are delighted to have an Executive Coach as a speaker. She will share her extensive experience, wisdom and perspective to answer the greatest challenges that we may face in our expatriation journey. You will be offered a treasure trove of useful ideas and advice for this transition. Without a doubt she will be an inspiration to all of us.

Languages are probably for some of us one of our biggest boundaries in every move abroad. But how tremendously lucky we are to belong to this amazing club, where friendship, positivity and team spirit makes each day easier. For those like me who are not native English speakers, I assure that within the NIC you will improve your confidence in this aspect. Please, don’t let English or French be an obstacle for you in your time in Brussels. We are here to help you.

with warmest wishes from,

The NIC President
