Dear Ladies,

a new year full of activities is starting at the NATO International Club; many things have changed, many friends have left but many others have arrived. This year it is my honour and my pleasure to address you as the new president of this fun, dynamic and international NATO “family”. As you may know I’m Carla, I’m Italian and I have joined this fine group a couple of years ago finding not only friendship but also support and the opportunity for a lively exchange of ideas, cultures and experiences.

Just as many of you, I have had the opportunity of travelling a lot and moving from one place to another so entering this group has given me the possibility of finding a safe place in Bruxelles. This newsletter, which opens a season full of activities, gives me the chance to ask all of you to actively take part to the events, by bringing fresh ideas, enthusiasm and initiative. On my side I will try to give a Mediterranean twist to the upcoming year, by sharing not only our taste for food but also our taste for life. Besides the activities carried out during the previous years, that will still be our focus, I would like to involve as many of you as possible in new activities such as: museum visiting, concerts and other social and cultural events that may come up to your mind. The next coffee morning will be the ideal opportunity to find out if these new initiatives and others that you might wish to propose will be well received. We will then start from there to set up the relevant interest groups. In the meantime this newsletter will provide details of the current activities as well as the references of our outstanding activity leaders.

For those of you more “internet savvy” I’m pleased to announce that, thanks to the effort of our friend Alice, the Club has a new web site that will provide further opportunities to get to know the NIC and stay “virtually” in touch.

So Ladies let’s get to the core and let’s get started!

I hope you will enjoy this year spent together because I already know I certainly will.

Ciao!

Carla
